Managing Impulsivity and Goal Setting

Yesterday Kauri watched a video about some children who had to manage their impulsivity to get a reward - 2 marshmallows instead of 1. They had to work very hard to control their actions using good thinking and will power!

)

Afterwards we used the hexagon tool to collect our ideas, share our thinking and see what we had learnt. We discovered that

 Managing Impulsivity is...
  • having self control
  • stopping and thinking
  • doing the right thing at the right time
  • something that happens in your mind!

We also connected this with our inquiry by realising that Managing our Impulsivity will help us achieve our goals by

  • being patient and waiting for the results to come
  • working hard sometimes to get through the boring bits
  • staying on task and being focussed!

Do you think you could all help us stay on task and achieve our goals this term?

 I wonder what else we could be doing....
