Book Cover goes to Press!

Yesterday we finalised the cover for our Highlights book that is being published next week. Here's a 'sneak preview!' You can order these books for only $5 - get in quick because there is a 40 book run being printed this term. After that you will need to wait until the new year.

There is a highlights page written by each student about all the events that have occurred this year, including the Year 6 Camp. There are also lots of photos, too. It's been a fantastic purpose for our writing programme and the Wha group have had a visit to Essential Resources, the publishing company for the book - a great addition to our design inquiry this term!

So, fill out the form that is going home today and get those orders in to the office fast. We are expecting them to be available on the last day of school - perfect for Christmas presents!

2013 Highlights Book

This term we are writing a highlights book as a class. It will have pages that use pictures and text to explain the highlights from our Year 6 Camp and lots of sporting and cultural events, too.

This week we've been talking to a publisher who might be able to help us get the book printed professionally. Essential Resources, a great publishing company based here, in Invercargill, are helping us organise a visit to their office and we are really excited about meeting with their team to get the project rolling!

This week we are working on our second drafts to make our writing as 'wow' as we can. Here's a printed copy of Cassie's writing that we used to find as many 'wow' factors as we could. We also used the feedback given from teachers on our google doc and the Wha writing group are going to help us edit the GSPI next week.

Marble Challenge Reflection

Today we reflected on the Marble Challenge we had to tune into our Design inquiry. Here's Emma's reflection - it's a good attempt of our 'what, so what, now what' model. The only thing you forgot, Emma, was a picture. Nice work.

Market Day

Today we had a fundraiser for the Year 6 Camp. The students worked hard over the last few weeks at home to make some amazing products and stalls. There was water balloon throwing, fudge, raffles and a hoop on the duck game.

Fingers crossed that we've raised lots of money for camp! Thanks to all the parents for your hard work and help on the day.
